United Petroleum Noonamah ram raided by four kids in third break-in this year

FOUR youths drove a blue Toyota LandCruiser through the front doors of a popular Top End servo, all for a bunch of chips, lollies and ice creams.

Northern Watch Commander Alex Noonan said the ute smashed through two protective bollards before hitting the front door of the United servo at Noonamah about 11pm Wednesday.

“CCTV from within the premises shows four …youths entering the store and stealing a quantity of chips, lollies and ice creams before leaving in the Toyota LandCruiser utility,” Commander Noonan said.

It’s the third time the business has been targeted in the past four months.

Thieves smashed their way into the store in July stealing between $8000 and $11,000 worth of tobacco products.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing and forensic officers were expected to attend the scene on Thursday morning.

In a separate incident, multiple staff members of a Top End supermarket were assaulted after trying to stop a man from stealing several bottles of alcohol at the 5 Star supermarket at Nightcliff on Wednesday afternoon.

Commander Noonan said while the employee was recovering the alcohol, the man struck him once to the neck and once to his face, about 2.40pm.

“The male then ran from the location only to return a short time later where he threw several items, believed to be rocks, at another staff member striking him to his chest,” Commander Noonan said.

“The male was described as a dark skinned Indigenous male, of slight build, messy/curly hair, wearing a dark shirt, bright yellow shorts and no shoes.”
