This is What Happened After M Safe Audited This Petrol Station

Some of you may know Krystal Moujaber, the founder of M Safe Consulting – one of ServoPro’s most valued partners. Recently, M Safe Consulting serviced one of our members in NSW. In this article, you will learn more about the processes that occurred while M Safe was conducting its visit.

Visiting the site

At this site, the council conducted a site visit. While they were there, they requested copies of the site’s most recent Fuel System Operation plan, which should ideally include a detailed manifest, a site layout plan that identifies exits, fire extinguishers, the location of monitoring wells, and more, as well as information on the UPSS Leak Monitoring system such as SIRA. Ideally, a site should have any as-built drawings and a manifest site plan.

As issues were found in the plan, M Safe was dutifully engaged to assist the operator in rectifying them and closing out the request. As they moved through the visit, M Safe Consulting spoke with the operators, discussed their options, and decided that it would be best for M Safe to further the visit and attend the service station to complete a full compliance audit. During the audit, they were to discuss what the service station was missing and then meet with the council on site.

A New and Improved Fuel System Operating Plan

After M Safe’s audit, a detailed and thorough Fuel System Operating Plan was created for the site to patch up the issues they found in the original plan. This type of plan is mandated and required for all service stations, as it falls under AS4897, along with the Protection of the Environment Operations Regulation 2019.

A Fuel System Operating Plan is a legally required document. It should include everything related to a service station’s UPSS and provide an easily accessible plan of action in the event of any environmental contamination, spills, or other seriously hazardous threats caused by the UPSS infrastructure.

The plan should include important information on leak detection, loss monitoring, all persons responsible for the UPSS, and a detailed site layout that identifies tank information and locations.

After M Safe Consulting confirmed that the Fuel System Operating Plan at this site was complete, the plans were submitted to the council and successfully approved – with no notices required or issued.
