Police have released CCTV footage of an armed robbery at a service station in regional Queensland in a public appeal for assistance.
At 1.30am on Sunday, June 10, the footage captures a young man with a knife entering a service station at Harristown in Toowoomba.
The man threatens the service station employee with a yellow kitchen knife, which he extended underneath the protective perspex shield towards the employee.
His knife-wielding hand is clad in a bright red glove, while he appears to be filming the robbery with an upright phone held in his other hand.
The surveillance footage shows the attendant placing the cash on top of a box of KitKats close to the man, who grabs the notes with his gloved hand.
As he snatches the last of the notes with his other hand and attempts to walk out of the James St service station, the young man finds the doors won’t open for him.
He pushed his whole weight against the doors, kicking them twice before rushing towards the rear of the shop and out of view of the surveillance camera.
When he runs back into the frame of the CCTV, the automatic doors open and the man makes a hasty exit.
The timestamp on the footage shows the robbery took about five minutes in total. No one was injured.
The man ran out of the service station towards a shopping centre carpark, according to Queensland Police.
Police believe the man is between 17 and 21 years old with a fair complexion. He was seen wearing a navy hoodie, grey track pants, and white runners.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the offender either before or after the incident.
