Two teenagers who allegedly robbed a servo of confectionary went on to lead police on a pursuit in a stolen luxury car through Adelaide’s north east.
Two teens who allegedly robbed a service station of lollies have been arrested after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen luxury car in Adelaide’s northeast.
The Volkswagen Polo was travelling south on Golden Grove Rd about 9.15am Wednesday and the police helicopter was sent to track it.
The car continued driving into Para Hills West before driving to Salisbury South.
Police successfully spiked the car’s tyres at the corner of Salisbury Highway and Lancaster Ave but it continued driving and was abandoned on Shepherdson Rd near Andrew Smith Drive.
The passenger was arrested at the scene and the driver ran off, but was arrested shortly after in the backyard of a nearby home.
Police have linked the pair to an earlier service station theft on Golden Grove Rd about 9am Wednesday where they allegedly stole confectionary and a phone charger.
When approached by a staff member as they left the store, police allege the teens pushed the victim.
The driver, a Hewett boy, 17 and his passenger, a Glenelg boy, 16, were charged with a raft of traffic related offences. Both were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court in March.
The Volkswagen was stolen from Mawson Lakes earlier this week.
It follows a similar incident in the early hours of Wednesday, where teenagers, including one as young as 14, were arrested after allegedly leading police on a pursuit in a stolen car through Adelaide’s south.
A patrol car pulled up alongside a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Basil and Humphrey St at Christie Downs about 12.25am.
Checks revealed the car was stolen from a Northfield address this month.
When the teen driver noticed the police car, he reversed onto nearby Genevieve St.
Patrols tried to stop the car but the driver refused and police lost sight of it on Beresford Ave.
Cordons were set up and police dog Judge was called in to help.
One teen was tracked running on a rail line on Flaxmill Rd.
Two other boys were located close by, and the car was found on Osmund Crescent.
An Enfield boy, 14, a Paralowie boy, 15 and a Payneham South boy, 16 were arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.
They younger two were bailed to appear in the Christie Beach Youth Court in March, while the 16-year-old was further charged with driving unlicensed, breaching bail and failing to stop.
He was refused bail to appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on Wednesday.
It follows the arrest of a man inside of a northern suburbs shopping centre who was alleged to have earlier been driving a stolen car.
The silver Audi was spotted in Edinburgh North about 5pm, before it was tracked via the police helicopter.
The stolen car continued travelling through the northern suburbs before it crashed into the rear of a Toyota sedan on Womma Rd at Elizabeth.
It continued and was dumped in the carpark of the Munno Para Shopping Centre and the driver rain inside.
A foot chase ensued and the driver was arrested inside.
The Elizabeth Park man, 35, was charged with illegal use, driving disqualified, driving at extreme speed and dangerous driving to escape police.
He did not apply for bail and appeared in court on Tuesday.
