Driver ‘dragged out of tanker and assaulted’ in alleged Sydney road rage incident

Two men have been charged over an alleged road-rage attack in Greenacre, in Sydney’s southwest, yesterday.

The incident is believed to have been sparked by minor collision between a Holden Commodore and a petrol tanker on Roberts Road.

The driver of the Holden Commodore and another man in the car got out after the crash and allegedly threw a glass bottle at the tanker, NSW Police said.

The men are accused of then pulling the driver of the tanker out of the cab and assaulting him.

The injured man, aged 67, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The driver of the Commodore – a 34-year-old man – and his passenger – a 26-year-old man were arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station.

The older man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

The younger man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, destroying or damaging property, possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance, and intentionally throw object at vehicle/vessel risk safety.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 21 October 2021.

Police are calling on any witnesses, or anyone who may have dash cam vision, to contact Auburn Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
