Four police officers were injured when their two vehicles collided during a chase of an alleged fuel thief for more than an hour across south-east Queensland overnight.
A 34-year-old man has been charged with driving offences after he was pursued from Logan to Brisbane’s north by several police vehicles, including the PolAir helicopter.
Police spotted the Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly involved in a number of fuel drive-offs about 10.30pm last night along Kingston Road in Waterford West.
The vehicle then allegedly sped off when police attempted to intercept it, leading them on a lengthy chase before crashing into an island on Dohles Rocks Road in Murrumba Downs just after midnight.
The driver and four officers injured during attempts to bring the car to a halt were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation into the police vehicle collision will be overseen by the ethical standards command.
The Boondall man was charged with four counts of stealing, two counts of dangerous driving, evasion, obstruct police, driving unregistered and receiving tainted property.
The man is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on July 1.
