Two youths, one as young as ten years old, have been apprehended by the Northern Territory (NT) Police following an alleged incident where they reportedly menaced a service station employee using scissors and a fake firearm.
According to the police, four young individuals entered a service station located on Bicentennial Rd in Katherine around 2 am on Wednesday. The group is said to have brandished the aforementioned weapons, threatening the employee, and proceeded to steal various small items.
The Katherine general duties officers, while responding to an unrelated incident in the vicinity, managed to intercept one of the individuals from the group. Additionally, another youth was discovered concealed within the service station premises.
As per the Youth Justice Act 2005, the 10 and 11-year-olds involved will be handled accordingly by the authorities.
The Katherine Police are urging anyone who possesses information about the incident, particularly those who may have witnessed it, to come forward and contact them at 131 444, referencing the case number 10353187.
