Violent Robberies At Katherine Service Station

On January 6th at 11:30 am, Northern Territory Police issued a statement concerning a disturbing incident that took place early Monday at a service station. At approximately 4:15 am, it was reported that three individuals forcibly entered the premises, engaging in violent acts by hurling rocks and various items from the store at a staff member, resulting in her sustaining an injury to her arm.

It is alleged that during the episode, one of the assailants leapt across the counter and pilfered cigarettes before the trio escaped on foot. Both the security personnel and the employee managed to retreat to a safe location. The affected employee suffered minor injuries but thankfully required no medical attention.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern of violence, as this attack is among five separate instances targeting local service stations within just four days.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact them on 131 444, referencing case number P25005653.

Earlier reports at 6:00 am detailed an unsettling break-in at another local service station, where a female attendant was assaulted with glass bottles, leading her to express a desire to resign. The break-in occurred around 4:30 am after an intruder smashed through a door to enter the establishment located at the junction of Stuart Hwy and Bicentennial Rd, in Katherine. The assault resulted in a minor laceration to her left arm. In a subsequent call to her employer, the distressed employee voiced her exasperation over the incident.

Police have confirmed their response to the scene and are actively investigating the matter.
