A petrol station in Melbourne’s west has fallen victim to a deliberate and destructive act of vandalism, causing thousands of dollars in damage and lost trade.
The BP station in Williamstown was targeted by two offenders who filled every pump nozzle with expanding foam, effectively putting the entire station out of action. CCTV footage captured the hooded pair heading directly to the pumps in the early hours, appearing to document the sabotage on their own camera.
The station’s manager, James Ibrahim, said the attack was clearly premeditated and executed with precision. The footage showed the vandals moving quickly and methodically, spraying the foam into each nozzle before ducking behind a fuel bowser to avoid being seen. Within minutes, they fled the scene on foot.
The damage was discovered by staff later that morning. As a result, the station was forced to close for approximately five hours while each pump was either cleaned or replaced. The total cost to the business, including repairs and lost revenue, was estimated at around $15,000.
Ibrahim expressed his frustration, noting the station has been a part of the local community for nearly 20 years. He said the business works hard to keep fuel prices competitive and was disappointed to be targeted in such a way. Despite the setback, he emphasised the team’s commitment to continuing to serve the area.
Police are investigating the incident, and private investigators have also been engaged by the business. Ibrahim urged local residents and businesses to check their CCTV systems and report any suspicious activity that could assist the investigation.
“This is our community,” he said. “We’re not going anywhere.”
