A man is in custody following two robberies in Davoren Park this evening.
Just before 6.30pm Tuesday 15 March a man brandishing a firearm entered a service station on Peachey Road and demanded cash. Staff refused and managed to get the man out of the store, he left on foot empty handed. Thankfully there were no injuries.
A short time later, just after 6.40pm a man with a firearm entered a service station on Womma Road, again demanding cash and cigarettes. The man left the store with a small amount of cash and cigarettes. Thankfully there were no injuries to staff.
Northern patrols quickly searched the area locating a man matching the description on Hewittson Road, Edinburg North. In his possession police allege they located a replica firearm.
The 18-year-old Elizabeth North man was arrested and charged with attempt aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
