Tragic Altercation Outside Service Station Leaves One Dead

In a tragic turn of events, a violent altercation outside a service station in Dawesville claimed the life of a man in his 30s during the early hours of Friday morning. According to authorities, a 35-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

At around 3:40 a.m., police and paramedics responded to a call at the service station on Bailey Boulevard, where they found an unresponsive man in his 30s. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead after being transported to Peel Health Campus.

Acting Detective Superintendent David Gorton acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “Any death is a tragic event, but when people are murdered, it has a lasting impact on family, friends, and the broader community.” He assured the public that the homicide squad is allocating necessary resources to assist local police and the community in investigating this matter thoroughly.

Initially, police reported that the charged individual, a 35-year-old man, was assisting with inquiries. However, on Saturday, he was formally charged with grievous bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court later that day.

While the specific nature of the victim’s injuries remains undisclosed, authorities have stated that witnesses to the incident are providing valuable information to aid in the investigation. Acting Detective Superintendent Gorton emphasised the homicide squad’s commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.

Tragically, this incident wasn’t the only one that the homicide squad was investigating on Friday. They also found the body of Erica Hay, a mother of four, in a suspicious house fire in Warnbro. A 35-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries, and authorities are treating Hay’s death as a murder case.

As the investigation into this senseless act of violence continues, the community mourns the loss of a life and seeks answers to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
