This is What Happened After Safe Work audited this Service Station

Some of you may know Krystal Moujaber, the founder of M Safe Consulting – one of ServoPro’s most valued partners. Recently, M Safe Consulting serviced one of our members in NSW. In this article, you will learn more about the processes that occurred while M Safe was conducting its visit.

Visiting the site

The site owner decided to give Krystal a call after their service station received a random spot check from a representative from Safe Work NSW.

Unfortunately, the random spot check did not go seamlessly. There were a few concerns raised by Safe Work that included:

  • The information on the LPG auto gas bowser/tank had not been submitted to Safe Work.
  • The site plan did not match the requirements of Safe Work and further details, like drain pits, exits, driveways, neighbouring properties, and tank details, were required of it.
  • The Hazmat Manifest Plan and tank depot list needed to be updated.

A Fix by M Safe

Because of these issues, M Safe Consulting arranged an on-site meeting with Safe Work in order to go through the improvement notices issued to the site. As a result of this meeting, the service station was given a 3-week deadline to have all of their notices rectified. If they could have it done within the time limit, they would be allowed to avoid penalties and fines.

In those 3 weeks, M Safe came to the rescue. They created:

  • A detailed Fuel System Operation Plan
  • A Hazmat Manifest Plan that included a manifest that lists all the dangerous goods stored on-site, including locations and quantities, emergency contacts of all personnel involved, contacts of emergency services, contacts of local council, and more. Included in this plan were images of the site that identified a clear entry, exit, and N/S/E/W directions from the site.
  • An Emergency Response Plan clearly outlines what to do in an emergency and a full onboarding training register.

Notification of Hazardous Chemicals (Schedule 11) was also updated and issued by Safe Work upon application. Along with that, Major Hazard Facilities Notification Form (Schedule 15) was completed and applied for, per Safe Work’s request.

And that’s not all. NSW Fire & Rescue were also informed of all the pertinent information relevant to them, like trading hours, the location of tanks, and all products on site. The detailed site plan was also submitted to NSW F&R.

The red emergency box was updated with hard copies (as well as electronic copies) of all issued documentation.

After these fixes, Safe Work deemed the site compliant, and no further improvement notices, fines, or penalties were issued.

With the help of M Safe Consulting, you can get your service station to where it needs to be. Don’t hesitate to contact Krystal Moujaber today to put your small business a step ahead of the game.
