The petrol station destroyed in the Rock Roadhouse fire in August has been revived just in time for the summer holidays – without its iconic Uluru shell.
A spokeswoman for United Petroleum, which operated its Viney Creek branch from the landmark building, said the petrol station would reopen sometime between Saturday and Monday, depending on how fast construction work progresses.
A massive fire ripped through the replica Uluru structure on the Pacific Highway in August.
The building contained the petrol station’s shop, a Subway restaurant and a take away joint. All three stores were destroyed in the flames.
The service station’s fuel pumps and gas tanks, however, were not damaged in the fire.
A small “QuickStop” store will open next to the former service centre site by Monday.
