At ServoPro, one of our most valued partners is M Safe Consulting – founded by Krystal Moujaber. Krystal and M Safe Consulting make sure that our network of independent service stations are compliant, and, as of late, they’ve been receiving calls regarding random spot checks from local councils and SafeWork.
ServoPro members should be advised that local councils and SafeWork are making their way around service stations within the areas of NSW and VIC, and their visits aren’t always pleasant.
Is Your Service Station Compliant?
You might be running the most successful service station with a beautiful store setup, fantastic customer service, and the most popular products. Locals and tourists alike may love your shop – but you still have to ask yourself: is your site compliant?
Moreover, do your staff know what steps to take in the event of an emergency? Do you have a safety plan in place? If there is a dangerous spill, a fire, or robbery on site, are your staff trained to take appropriate measures to create a safe environment for employees and customers?
It’s important that you answer ‘yes’ to these questions in order to ensure your service station remains compliant. There has been a great amount of pressure placed on operators by councils and their ever-increasing expectations surrounding types of documentation required on-site.
This is the time of year that councils and other such bodies like SafeWork and EPA make their way around to spot check service stations all across NSW and VIC. If they come to visit your site and your service station is not compliant, they will issue an improvement notice with a deadline. You must rectify your site’s improvements before this deadline, or further action will be taken.
We understand that something like this can be intimidating and even scary – but we urge you to take spot checks seriously. There are steps you can take to make sure that your service station is compliant – you just have to know where to start.
If you would like to discuss the UPSS regulations and documentation required by law to have on-site at your service station, contact Krystal Moujaber at M Safe Consulting. With Krystal, you can arrange a site visit and a compliance audit in order to prevent fines, penalties, and improvement notices – which will leave you feeling confident that you and your staff are fully prepared and aware of how to keep your service station safe.
