Petrol station owner clings to car in fuel theft incident

During a recent incident at a petrol station in Gowrie Junction, north of Toowoomba, the owner Clint Weber held on “for dear life” as a driver allegedly stole fuel and sped down the street with him clinging to the bonnet.

Weber recognised the driver as the same person who had driven off without paying for fuel the previous week. When Weber tried to confront the driver about payment, the driver allegedly floored the car, and Weber ended up on the bonnet.

Eventually, the car stopped, and Weber rolled off before the driver escaped. The police suspect that the car was stolen and that the same individuals were responsible for other offences in the Darling Downs district.

Weber suffered minor injuries and expressed frustration with the increasing fuel drive-offs in the area, which prompted him to confront the driver. The police advised residents not to put themselves in harm’s way and to contact the authorities if they come across such incidents.
