Owner fuelled up for next chapter after 10 years

After a decade of trading on South Western Highway, Caltex Harvey will close its doors on May 29.

Owner Aaron Capp believes the business tried to maintain a strong involvement within the community over his 10 years of ownership.

“Initially it was my ex-wife, my sister and her son who bought this business,” Mr Capp said.

“At the time my nephew played football for the local Harvey team and within the first year of being in operation we got quite involved with that footy club, showing our support through donations and sponsorship-type arrangements.

“To this day and up until the end of our trade we have continued to make that annual contribution.”

Being an integral part of the Harvey community, Mr Capp was thankful to have had a team of staff that he referred to as friends. “I have been very lucky with my staff and have had a low staff turnover.

“We are currently sitting on around 10 staff members who have all been here long-term and they have been invited to apply for their roles when the new company moves in.”

When asked to highlight the service station’s biggest success, Mr Capp mentioned the business’ Rosie’s Chicken franchise.

“We introduced Rosie’s about four years ago and were recently told we currently hold the position of being the fifth biggest in Australia which is quite an achievement.”

Although Harvey will no longer see Mr Capp behind the register at the station, he will still have a presence within the town.

“I am not leaving in the foreseeable future and will still be a part of the community, it is just time for something new and different.

“I have acquired a part time job with local accountant Miranda Narducci which I will commence after closing the doors here. My ex-wife and I have enjoyed every minute of the past ten years and our involvement within the community and are now moving forward.”

Mr Capp will be handing over the keys to petroleum franchise VIBE on May 30.
