A New Town man is in custody following an alleged armed robbery in the state’s south on Saturday night.
About 6.30pm, the 33-year-old man allegedly entered the United Petroleum Service Station at Lutana.
After spending some time within the service station, Tasmania Police allege the man approached an employee and produced a weapon, then demanded cigarettes and money.
Police said the employee activated an emergency alarm and took personal safety measures, and the man left the store without further incident.
The man was later located by police in Moonah and taken into custody. He will appear in after-hours court.
