Man wanted after armed robbery at Wollongong service station

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Wollongong in the early hours of Monday morning.

The man attended a service station on Crown Street Wollongong at about 12.45am, where he allegedly produced a knife before walking behind the front counter and taking cash, cigarettes and bottles of soft drink.

The man fled on foot. No persons were injured as a result of the robbery.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The man is described as about 180cm tall, with a medium build and was wearing a brown hooded jumper, blue surgical-style mask and lime green gardening gloves at the time of the robbery.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Wollongong police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Inquiries are continuing.
