Man arrested over servo robbery

A 22-year-old Whyalla Norrie man has been arrested after he allegedly robbed the OTR McRitchie service armed with a pair of scissors.

About 8pm on Saturday 4 July a man entered the Whyalla Stuart service station armed with a pair of scissors. The man allegedly threatened the attendant, a 24-year-old local woman, and stole money before leaving on foot.

During the robbery, the attendant received an injury to her hand from the scissors and was treated at the scene by paramedics; fortunately she did not require further medical treatment.

Just before 9pm on Wednesday, July 8, police attended a home in Port Augusta West and arrested the alleged offender.

The man has been charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court today, Thursday July 9.
