A man has been arrested by police following a burglary at a service station in Springvale South this morning.
Emergency services were called to the Heatherton Road store following reports a nearby resident heard glass smashing in the vicinity of the station about 2am.
It is believed the offender smashed a glass window and forced entry to the store before he was seen rummaging through the counter.
Attending police, assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team and Dog Squad, cordoned off the area and called on the man to come out of the store.
The 42-year-old man surrendered to police without incident.
The Dandenong man has been taken to hospital, under police guard, for treatment to an injury believed sustained while trying to break-in.
Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and expect to interview the man in relation to burglary, criminal damage and going equipped to steal.
