Man abducted at knifepoint from NT servo

Two armed men accused of violently abducting a man from a service station in the Northern Territory have been charged.

Police say the knife-wielding men, aged 22 and 24, forced their way into a 46-year-old man’s ute in Pinelands, south of Darwin, about 5am on December 9.

“They allegedly forced the driver to take them to (nearby) shops in Gray, where the men exited the vehicle and fled the scene,” a police spokeswoman said.

Officers found the younger man in Katherine, 320km south of Darwin, on Christmas Day.

He was charged with assault, threatening with a weapon, deprivation of liberty, entering a building with intent, and stealing.

The 24-year-old was arrested by Katherine police on Tuesday and also charged with assault, threatening with a weapon, deprivation of liberty, entering a building with intent and stealing.

Both men will appear in court on Wednesday.
