Liberty to open four service station outlets in Townsville

About $15 million in investment and 60 jobs are being pumped into the city with the opening of its first Liberty petrol station and convenience store outlets.

A flagship store is nearing completion in Charters Towers Rd, while three other similar service station developments are either under way or planned at Lakeside Dr, Idalia, Riverway Dr, Thuringowa Central, and Bayswater Rd, Garbutt.

Liberty Retail property manager Harry Osman said the Charters Towers Rd site would be an up-market development.

“It will be our flagship store. We want to make it a landmark,” Mr Osman said.

He said each of its four sites would employ between 10 and 15 people.

They appreciated the economy of the city had struggled in recent times but they were confident in making a big investment.

“This is recognition of the belief we have in Townsville,” Mr Osman said.

“We are building outlets around Australia but I don’t think there is another town where we are putting in four sites.”
