Police are on the hunt for a man who held up an Inverell service station with a knife in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Wearing a balaclava and wielding a knife, the man entered the Warialda Road service station at about 1.30am, threatening an employee while demanding cigarettes and cash.
Leaving the staff member physically uninjured, the alleged robber fled on foot with the stolen goods, and was last seen running towards Warialda Road.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined.
As inquiries continue, investigators are appealing to locate a man who may be able assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall, and of medium build. He was wearing all black clothing with a white strip on the pants.
Investigators are also looking for dash cam footage from the area, which can be provided to police at Inverell Police Station or via Crime Stoppers.
