Interview: Luigi Antonuccio – Co-Founder at Refueler App

At ServoPro we are getting right behind the team at Refueler App as they are building a Smartphone Application which solves some key issues for not only independent fuel retailers, who we represent, but also the consumer. We recently caught up with Luigi Antonuccio, co-founder at Refueler to get an update on where they are up to and how the Refueler App is going to be a game-changer for independent fuel retailers and consumers.

What is Refueler App? Do we need another fuel App?

The Refueler app is the first fuel app that is mutually beneficial for the consumer and the retailer. While there are now many apps on the market and so many different brands of fuel and service station owners, it just makes sense to tie it all in together. This along with the modern features of the Refueler app, we are bridging the current gap and truly taking the industry into the digital age.

Everyone in petrol and convenience seems to be talking about Refueler. What has been the secret to getting all this attention?

Timing! Petrol costs are such a massive topic right now. You can’t read a paper or scroll through social media without being reminded of it. What we’ve been able to do is save the consumer without costing the retailer. It’s a win/win. We have also helped independents come on to a digital platform without having to fork out massive dollars for their own app.

What is the key problem you are solving for petrol station operators?

Increase volume and foot traffic through their convenience store. If a customer has saved money on their fuel purchase they are far more likely to spend on an in-store purchase.

What is the key problem you are solving for consumers?

This is a simple one. Saving them money. But not only that, we are helping people to budget better, gift fuel to their kids, and be a part of an unprecedented partner rewards program.

You are currently trialling the app in a petrol station. How’s the trial going and when can we expect to see the full launch?

Trials are looking very positive. The app itself has had very few glitches from the start. We have Alfred our lead developer to thank for that. We expect to have a full roll out in the early part of 2019. We have many arms of the media also excited about what we are doing so we are looking forward to hitting the market with a bang!!!
