Police have found a worrying stash of liquor and wine bottles in the car of a driver after being called to a crash at a petrol station.
A driver has been caught trying to flee the scene of a crash in their car filled with empty vodka and wine bottles in Melbourne this week.
Police were called to the petrol station at Balcombe Rd in Black Rock about 9.45am on Tuesday, where they found a car had collided with metal bollards protecting a petrol bowser.
Police said the female driver was “found getting back into her car in an attempt to drive it away”.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police told news.com.au the driver is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving related offences.
The woman was given a preliminary breath test at the scene, which police allege indicated she was over the legal limit.
“Police checked her car and found it contained many empty alcohol bottles,” Glen Eira Bayside Police said in a statement. “She was taken back to Moorabbin Police Station, where she blew 0.234 BAC (almost 5 times the legal limit) on a breath test.”
The woman’s licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days, police said.
She was assisted with health referrals for her drinking.
