Fuel Tanker Crash Closes Moonie Highway

The Moonie Highway near Kumbarilla, southwest of Dalby, remains shut following a collision involving a fuel tanker.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 am when two prime movers crashed, spilling a significant amount of diesel and petrol across the roadway.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, both drivers managed to escape from the wreckage before paramedics arrived. They were treated at the scene for minor eye and head injuries before being transported by road to Dalby Hospital.

Authorities established an exclusion zone for several hours, with Queensland Police Service issuing an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act on Tuesday morning.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the emergency declaration was lifted shortly before 5 pm; however, the highway remains closed, with diversions in place due to damage to the road surface.
