Developer seeks permission to build a new servo just 120m from an existing one

Six homes could be bulldozed to make way for a new service station and fast food outlet – just 120m from an existing one.

There are plans to build a new service station along a busy road north of Brisbane – just 120m from an existing servo.

Mantra Property Group have lodged an application with Moreton Bay Regional Council to bulldoze six homes at 858-868 Gympie Rd, Lawnton, and build a new service station and food outlet.

The proposal, lodged with council in late November, states the development will also include an automated car wash.

The service station will have a floor space of 200 sqm and the food outlet 215 sqm.

There will be 15 carparks, which is in line with council requirements for a development of this size.

It does not detail which company would operate the service station or the food outlet.

There is a Caltex StarMart just 120m along Gympie Road.

The report lodged with council states the developer plan to widen the verge at the corner of Gympie and Station roads to improve sight distance for vehicles.
