Dash-cam appeal after thief robs Booral service station near Stroud and steals car dumped at Karuah

POLICE investigating an armed robbery at Booral, south of Stroud, are seeking dash-cam footage and other public help.

Port Stephens police are making inquiries after a service station attendant on Booral Road was threatened by a knife-wielding man who demanded cash and cigarettes about 5.25am on Friday.

The thief took cash and cigarettes before threatening customers, taking a wallet from one before stealing that person’s Mazda that was idling outside.

The thief drove away on The Bucketts Way towards the Pacific Highway.

Police said no-one was injured.

Their investigations led them to find the stolen vehicle in Franklin Street at Karuah about 6.20pm the same day.

Investigators are hoping to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on The Bucketts Ways between the Pacific Highway and Stroud between 3am and 6am on the morning of Friday March 15.

Detectives are hoping to speak with a man described as being of Caucasian appearance with a tanned complexion, aged between 25 and 30 years old and 183 centimetres tall with a thin build.
