Coles Fuel Discounts Limited in Adelaide Metro Following OTR Sale

Due to recent changes in ownership, there are now fewer service stations where shoppers can use Coles shopper docket fuel discounts. As of March 1st, 25 service stations in the Adelaide metropolitan area no longer accept these discounts.

This shift stems from the sale of the OTR service station empire to Viva Energy. As part of the $1.15 billion deal, Viva had to sell 25 service stations in South Australia to prevent having too much control over the market. Chevron acquired these stations and rebranded them as Caltex sites, which don’t honour Coles fuel discount offers.

Shoppers may be wondering where you can still use the discount dockets. While there are still 19 Coles Express sites across South Australia, most are in regional areas. The few remaining metro stations are located in Mansfield Park, West Lakes, Valley View, Elizabeth Park, Fairview Park, and Hope Valley. Shoppers won’t be able to use their Flybuys at Caltex sites either.

However, according to Viva Energy, these converted stations will still accept Shell cards.

Coles has declined to comment on the matter since they no longer operate the Coles Express brand. Last year, the Shahin family struck a deal to sell their service station empire to Viva, signalling significant changes in the industry. The family’s empire, founded by Fred Shahin in 1984, grew into a multi-billion dollar enterprise with the involvement of his sons Yasser, Sam, and Charlie. Yasser Shahin will remain with the OTR business to oversee the rollout of their model.
