Following the announcement in the federal budget that fuel excise will be halved for six months — with the federal government taking 22.1 cents per litre to ease the burden on households — fuel retailer Coles Express is going one step further to offer shoppers big savings.
While Aussie fuel prices have on average come down from $2.20 per litre to $2 per litre, fuel costs are still hurting hip pockets.
In news that cash-strapped households will welcome, Coles Express customers will now be able to save up to an additional 22 cents per litre on their fuel every time they fill their tanks.
This means on an average full tank fill up of 60 litres, motorists will be able top save an additional $13 off their fuel on top of the eventual $13 savings in fuel excise.
Shoppers who spend $20 or more in Coles Express convenience stores will get an increase in their discount from 10 cents to 14 cents per litre until May 25.
When combined with a Coles supermarket shopper docket deal of 4 cents per litre, the discount is 18 cents per litre.
Footy fans will be able to get an even bigger discount on their fuel by downloading the popular AFL LIVE App3 for free.
Customers can then register for and activate the AFL fuel discount offer on the App to receive an additional 4 cents off per litre.
Coles Express Executive General Manager Michael Courtney said that with increased cost-of-living pressures facing Australians, the company wants to do everything it can to provide great value to customers.
“We have a great partnership with Viva Energy and by working together, we have come up with a really compelling way for our customers to save more at the bowser, at a time they need it most,” Mr Courtney said.
