A serious incident was narrowly avoided at a petrol station in Sorell during the early hours of this morning when a display sign caught fire, which could have had disastrous consequences.
The Midway Point-Sorell Fire Brigade received a call and immediately dispatched a team of four firefighters to the location. Upon arriving, they quickly took action to tackle the blaze, which was located perilously close to the fuel dispensers.
Once the fire had been extinguished, the firefighting crew conducted a thorough investigation using a thermal imaging camera to detect any potential hotspots. As a precautionary measure, they also ensured that the surrounding vegetation and pine bark were thoroughly soaked to eliminate any remaining fire hazards.
