An Ipswich man subjected a teenage service station worker to terrifying robbery at Springfield. He was carrying a strange item at the time.

Armed with a rock, a young Ipswich man robbed a Springfield service station and took off with five cartons of cigarettes

A court heard Nooroa Dryalle-Kishonay Teremona also tried and failed to take money from the till.

When Teremona committed the crime on January 17, 2020, a 19-year-old worker was confronted with the brazen robbery although the rock wasn’t brandished in a threatening manner.

Police tracked Teremona down after he was caught on CCTV and DNA from the rock solidified his involvement.

On Friday, January 21, the 20-year-old pleaded guilty entering a premises and stealing and was sentenced to an 18 month parole order.

Teremona’s legal representation said his client was homeless at the time of the offence and described the crime as bizarre and unsophisticated.

The court heard Teremona’s mother and father tried to force independence on the young man after a falling out over his ex-partner and friends who were deemed a bad influence.
