Attempted robbery and drive-off from Renmark servo

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Renmark service station this afternoon.

A man attended the service station on Renmark Avenue, Renmark about 2.20pm on Wednesday 21 July and filled a vehicle with unleaded petrol. He then went inside, armed with a machete, and threatened the attendant, demanding money.

The staff member refused and chased the suspect out of the store with a bar stool.

Fortunately, the attendant was not injured during the incident.

The suspect left in a silver/grey, older model hatch with significant damage to the front windscreen. Police believe they have located the vehicle dumped at a Renmark North property and will seize it for forensic examination.

The suspect is described as of Caucasian appearance, 170cm tall, medium to large build, wearing a surgical mask, sunglasses, a black hooded jumper with a large white motif on the front, black trackpants with a light coloured stripe down the leg and dark shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
