A father-of-three who tried to “stick up” a BP service station by gesturing a gun only left with a sausage roll from the bain-marie.
Adrian David Grundy, 45, had a shirt wrapped around his face so only his eyes and nose were visible and was pacing and yelling during his six-minute stick up at the Labrador servo on January 24 this year.
Having seen Grundy, the female worker locked herself into a room and called authorities.
During the ordeal another woman went to the night window.
Grundy approached the window, made a gesture of a gun and yelled “f**k off, I’m trying to stick up the place.”
Grundy continued to call for the defendant to come out.
Eventually he grabbed a sausage roll from the bain-marie near the counter. When police arrived he was taken into custody and was found with a clip-seal bag with ice residue.
Grundy appeared in Southport District Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to a string of offences including stealing and attempted robbery.
