A service station site that’s been left vacant for a few years on the corner of Tarleton and Brooke Streets at East Devonport is reopening as an independent fuel outlet.
Operator Nagendra Chitumadugula said he hoped to open Mate’s Fuels next week.
He said the service station would provide a full driveway service and a convenience shop selling confectionery, groceries, hardware, fishing gear, and bait and offering trailer hire.
Mr Chitumadugula said he moved to Tasmania in 2015 from India.
He already has a fuel outlet and convenience shop, and takeaway near Launceston.
“This new opportunity came up at East Devonport with the potential there for a full driveway service outlet where people welcome the service and having a chat,” he said.
“I’ve worked at a full driveway service station where you make good friends who still keep in contact.”
