Leading Australian ethanol innovator Microbiogen has taken out the Minerals, Energy and Related Services Award as part of the 57th Australian Export Awards celebrated in Canberra last night.
The award – supported by the MCA, which represents our world-leading Australian minerals sector, the nation’s largest export industry – honours the export success of Australia’s resources companies.
Representing NSW, Microbiogen beat six other state and territory winners to claim the national award.
Microbiogen is transforming the global ethanol industry with new strains of yeast that produce biofuels more efficiently and economically. Its six ‘Innova’ products launched over the last 18 months have secured a 15 per cent share of global biofuel markets, with the company’s superior biocatalysts used in a range of industries including first and second generation biofuels, human food and animal feed.
Australia’s resources exports reached a record of $273 billion in 2018-19 and accounted for 58 per cent of Australia’s total exports, helping to create new Australian jobs, boost the economy and sustain more prosperous regional communities.
The MCA applauds Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) for the Australian Export Awards and the important role it plays in recognising and honouring Australia’s export success.
