The all-in-one service station being constructed on Bli Bli Rd in Nambour is nearing completion, with hopes it’ll be up and running before Christmas.
Fuel retailer Fresh Trading Co. are the national, independent fuel and convenience operator who will soon be handed the keys to open up shop, which is said to provide an innovative retail offering.
Procon Development site manager John Clacy said his team was two weeks away from beginning landscaping works on the project, with the structure, roof and fuel systems already installed in the ground.
“People are going to be blown away when they walk into the shop,” Mr Clacy said.
“It’s a very innovative retail offering for a service station.”
The project was originally expected to be completed by June or July this year, but approvals and weather hurdles held them back.
Now going full steam ahead, Mr Clacy said the week before Christmas was their goal time to open.
Mr Clacy said the site, next to the Nambour Fire Station and opposite the Crushers football field, was designed as a hub for local produce and fuel with maximised capacity for cars and trucks.
“The servo has a dedicated truck bay for fuel with high flow diesel, designed to take the biggest of B-double trucks that the road will take,” he said.
“They’ve got their own lane so they don’t have to travel through a car section and block drive ways.”
The Nambour store will also have two dedicated electric-vehicle charge bays with opportunity to expand to more as the demand increases.
According to Mr Clacy, as a fuel retailer, Fresh Trading Co. had taken a different approach with what the shop offers.
“There’s going to be a very innovative offering in the service station as far as not just coffee, cigarettes and chocolate,” he said.
He said the service station would boast “coming-of-age” food tenant, Sandwich Chefs, who would offer drive-through coffee and healthy, fresh sandwich options.
In a previous interview with the Daily, Fresh Food Co. operations manager John Wood said the store would feature a natural, easy-to-navigate flow, warm finishes, polished concrete floors and a range of natural timber finishes and light.
