A woman has been arrested after allegedly using her hatchback to deliberately ram another vehicle multiple times at a service station in Whyalla Norrie, approximately 386km northwest of Adelaide.
Emergency services were called to Ekblom Street following reports of a serious incident involving two vehicles.
The white hatchback driver, a resident of Iron Knob, was arrested by police at the scene and later charged with several offences. These include acts intended to endanger life, driving dangerously, and property damage. The charges were laid on Wednesday.
Video footage taken by bystanders shows the woman repeatedly crashing her car into a blue SUV over a span of several minutes, with up to ten collisions recorded before the hatchback came to a stop.
Before the repeated collisions, the woman reportedly exited her vehicle and confronted the male driver of the SUV, only to re-enter her car and continue the attack.
Following the incident, the woman required medical attention and was transported by ambulance. The nature of her injuries has not been disclosed, but she is believed to have sustained whiplash.
The male driver of the SUV was not injured in the attack. However, a 64-year-old woman who was a passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital for treatment, where she remains under medical care.
The motive behind the incident remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
The woman has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on 1 July.
Police are urging anyone with information or video footage of the incident to contact authorities.
