A well-known actor was left stunned after he was treated to an ‘old school’ service after he pulled up to a petrol station.
Shane Jacobson was driving towards Adelaide when he needed to refuel so he stopped at St Arnaud Apex Service Station, in rural Victoria, on Sunday.
Mr Jacobson is a high-profile actor, comedian and director who is known for his role as the main character in the classic mockumentary, ‘Kenny’.
He said he was caught off-guard when an attendant rushed to his car and began to fill it up at the pump.
He shared his surprising interaction on Facebook praising the attendant.
‘I shook his hand and thanked him and he followed it up with, “It’s all part of the service”,’ he wrote.
‘What’s awesome is that he actually meant it. What a champion!!! Go Australia,’ he declared.
‘It was so so lovely to be taken back to a time of service and conversation.’
Social media users joined in on the praise saying they had the same experiences at the station.
‘Fantastic, I love the drive through service too! Great job guys,’ one wrote.
A second added: ‘How awesome is that, you all go above and beyond with the service you provide to all customers… Well Done..’
Others revealed they had experienced similar situations at other petrol stations.
‘This happened for us in Paeroa, NZ Caltex two weeks ago! I wasn’t very well and was so grateful to the attendant walked out and filled up Hilux!’ one wrote.
Many called on other service stations to bring back ‘old school service’.
‘I really miss having someone to help pump up my tyres and to recommend an oil for me to buy. Most servo staff these days have no product knowledge. Very inconvenient.’
St Arnaud Apex Service Station automotive secretary Lisa Esmore thanked Mr Jacobson and welcomed him back anytime.
‘Glad our staff member gave great service. And that is all part of our service – 75 plus years & 3 generations including the workshop!’ she wrote.
‘Dont be a stranger! Welcome back anytime! Hopefully during the week so we can say G’day in person!’
Mr Jacobson has worked in high-profile movies including ‘The Dressmaker’, ‘A Few Less Men’, and ‘Oddball’.
He is an author, screen writer, creative director, producer and executive producer.
Mr Jacobson was awarded the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for his performance as Kenny Smyth in the film, ‘Kenny’.
