Four arrested after attempted armed robbery in Epping

FOUR teenagers were arrested by the Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit after a boy was injured in an attempted armed robbery in Epping on Thursday night.

Investigators were told a 16-year-old boy was at Epping train station with friends at about 9pm when he was surrounded by a group of five boys, four of whom were armed with knives.

The group made demands for the boy’s phone and an altercation occurred when he refused.

The 16-year-old boy sustained a suspected stab wound and ran to Epping Police Station to report the incident. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police located and arrested four boys near Thomastown train station later in the night.

A Broadmeadows boy, 16, a Thornbury boy, 14, a Reservoir boy, 16, and a Thomastown boy, 16, are currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.
