Two Wollongong armed robberies at petrol stations may be linked

Armed robberies at two Wollongong petrol stations over the weekend could be linked, police say.

At about 10.20pm on Saturday police rushed to the Metro service station on Crown Street.

A man, who was believed to be armed, had entered the service station and demanded cash from a male staff member.

After a search of the area, police found a knife nearby, which has been seized for forensic examination.

Four hours later a man entered the 7-Eleven next to Wollongong Hospital and demanded money.

Staff were uninjured in both robberies, but the robber left with an unknown sum of cash

Police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist.

He is described as being 175cm – 180cm tall and was wearing a black ‘Michael Jordan’ hooded jumper, light-coloured jeans, gloves, dark shoes and a light-coloured t-shirt which was covering his face.
